B2. LEADING JAVA TOOL VENDORS SUPPORT MICROSOFT'S JAVA
REFERENCE IMPLEMENTATION FOR WINDOWS
Java tool vendors including Borland, the Powersoft
division of Sybase Inc., and Symantec have announced their
intention to target the Java reference implementation for
the Microsoft Windows operating system with their Java-based
development tools. This tool support will enable Java
developers to create Java Applets that work with ActiveX
Controls, providing users with rich and powerful
functionality as well as high performance. Developers will
also be able to create software components in the Java
language based on the industry-leading distributed object
technology, the Component Object Model (COM).

HOW TO INSTALL CHAT IN WINDOWS 95
SUMMARY
This article describes how to install the Chat tool from
the Windows 95 CD-ROM. This tool is not installed by
default when you install Windows 95.
MORE INFORMATION
To install Chat from the Windows 95 CD-ROM, follow
these steps:
1. In Control Panel, double-click Add/Remove Programs.
2. On the Windows Setup tab, click Have Disk.
3. Click Browse, click the CD-ROM drive in the Drives box,
double-click the Other folder, double-click the Chat
folder, click OK, and then click OK again.
4. Click the Chat check box in the list of components so
that it is selected, and then click Install.
5. Click OK.
6. Create a shortcut to Netdde.exe in the Windows\Startup
folder. For information about creating shortcuts,
search for "shortcuts" by clicking the Start button and
then clicking Help.
7. Restart your computer.
The Chat tool is added to the Accessories menu.
